Picking up Ukraine 5

The dinner went smoothly. Well, other than a few complaints from some customers over "flying knives", there was nothing really bothersome happening.

Matthew asked for the bill and looked at Ukraine, upon hearing her voice. "What will we do now, Matthew?" Katiyusha asked. She quickly added: "Oh, uhm, don't get me wrong, the dinner was wonderful, I was just asking…"

Matthew quickly assured her: "Don't worry, I planned out what we'll do next." The waiter came with the bill and Matthew payed the man. He stood up afterwards and offered his hand to Ukraine. "Shall we?"

Ukraine smiled and nodded. "Yes! She said a bit excited and stood up, accepting his hand. The two nations then walked out of the restaurant, still unaware of the two Slavs that were staring at them from a distance.

"And there they go." Bulgaria said, standing up and offering his hand to Belarus. Belarus had paid for their food, Bulgaria's reason for not paying being the tight allowance his Boss was giving him. Belarus looked at his hand, then at Bulgaria and pouted, standing up on her own.

"Let's go then." she said in an ordering tone and walked out, followed by the older nation, who rolled his eyes, wondering things that were best to be left unknown by others.

Matthew and Katiyusha walked down an open street, the night now more evident than before. The time was around 21:00pm or something and now only the young men and women, as well as a few of the elderly could be seen outside.

Ukraine looked curiously at her Canadian date. She wondered what he was thinking about right now. Was it about political issues, was it about his brother and the trouble he was causing? Was he thinking about her? Her cheeks went bright red as she thought of the latter.

Unbeknownst to the two, still, Bulgaria and Belarus followed, keeping a good distance from them. "Where is he going with Big Sister?" Belarus wondered out loud, giving a death glare to the young blond.

Bulgaria rubbed the back of his neck, having an idea. He had walked these streets before, when he last visited Ivan. "I know where they're going." A smirk creased his lips, a knowing kind of smirk.

Belarus eyed him. "Where?" she simply asked.

Bulgaria explained.

"D-dancing?" Ukraine asked. The two had stopped at a building that was known for it's fancy music and chatty people. Her cheeks went redder. "Oh my, Matthew, really?" she asked, turning to him.

Matthew blushed a bit as well. "Err, yes. But, if you don't want to dance, maybe we don't have to do this, we can jus-" Ukraine cut him off, flailing.

"Oh, no, no, no! Don't worry, I like the idea. I always wanted to dance here, so this is wonderful of you, Matthew!" she said to encourage the blond.

Matthew sighed in relief. "Oh, that's great." He walked with her to the door, where a man in a suit opened it for them. "Ladies first, Katiyusha~" Matthew said politely. Ukraine blushed more and entered, followed by her date.

When the two disappeared inside, Bulgaria and Belarus followed in, Bulgaria doing the same gesture as Canada did, but getting a cold shoulder and a pout from Belarus. "So cold." he said to himself as he went in, after her.

Though it was a bit early, by dancing at night standards, there were quite a few people in already. That's what the couple noticed when they looked inside. The music was played by a live group and currently a very joyous and full of life song was being played for the people. Everyone was dancing.

Matthew turned to Ukraine, Katiyusha turned to Canada. "W-well…" Ukraine started.

"Shall we dance?" Matthew offered. Ukraine nodded and the two embraced for the dance.

With every tone of the melody, the two moved back and forth. They did pretty well in their attempts to be in synch with the live band playing. Matthew led Katiyusha for this dance, holding her hand gently, though strong enough not to drop it, his other softly touching her waist, while she gripped back at his hand and her other one, holding on his shoulder. The two moved at a pace, neither fast or slow. For the two usually nervous and shy around one another, they moved quite confidently in their dance. Due to their appearances and the knowledge of the people about who they were, people looked in awe, seeing how well they could dance.

"P-people are staring at us, Matthew." Ukraine said, gripping at his hand a bit more.

"Y-yeah, they are, but try not to pay attention to them, ok?" Matthew suggested.

Ukraine nodded. "Yes."

The two continued with their dance until the end of the song. When they finished, people clapped for them and cheered them on, men giving compliments to Ukraine and the women – to Canada. The two blushed, feeling gracious over the nice words people said to them.

"Fantastic!" said a old Russian man with a beard that made him look, surprisingly, allot like General Winter.

"Marvelous!" a young woman said from afar, clapping.

The two thanked as many as they could before another song played. This time, it was a slow song.

Matthew looked at her and she looked back at him. "Slow dancing? A-are you ready?"

Ukraine nodded. "Y-yes. If it's with you, it's ok, Matthew." She said lightly and embraced him again in that dance.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria and Belarus were having problems with this song. As much as Bulgaria wanted to compete with other people, who were dancing, Belarus didn't want to join him in that activity.

"Come on, Belarus, people are going to show us up!" Bulgaria said with a bit of a angry tone. He clearly wanted to dance. His home was famous for it's roses, true, but he wasn't a slouch when it came to "shaking it" either.

"Bulgaria, I cannot dance." Belarus replied and though it sounded angry, the way she said it, she looked to the side, a bit of a blush on her cheeks out of embarrassment.

Bulgaria looked at her. "You can't dance?" He was surprised.

"Da. And even if I was able to, I would never dance with-" before she could finish her sentence, Belarus was picked up in the air.

Bulgaria had grabbed her by the waist, a timid look on his face.

"What are you doing, fool! You are embarrassing me!" she exclaimed, flailing embarrassed.

Bulgaria let her down, her white shoed feet landing on his black pair of shoes. "If you can't dance…" Bulgaria said lightly, then put a hand on her waist, grabbing her right hand with his left. Belarus' face, which usually was filled with anger or coldness went very, very, very pink. Her eyes went wide as she stared at what Bulgaria was doing to her. "… then I will teach you to slow dance, without the risk of me getting stepped on of course."

He then began to move with the melody, forward two steps and one step back, pausing and then repeating, Belarus not taking her eyes off of the man. Was this him being competitive for the sake of being better than the rest at this? Or would that be his way of wanting to show her a good time? She was not certain, but what she did know was that he didn't mind to get his shoes dirty for the same of her learning to dance.

After a while she closed her eyes and obliged, learning pretty quick how to do it. "Stupid Bulgaria", with a flustered tone, Belarus muttered beneath her breath.

Bulgaria just smirked. "Right, right…"
